James Edward Ash, 73, of Kurtistown died May 16. Born in Denver, he owned Keaau Auto &Truck Salvage. Visitation 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) at Glad Tidings Church, 113 Kuawa St. in Hilo. Angeline Calasa, 89, of Keaau, formerly of Oahu, died July 10 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on Oahu, she was a homemaker. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Monday (July 27) at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel on Oahu. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire; flowers welcome. Itsue Crook, 85, of Hilo, formerly of Naalehu, died Dec. 26, 2014, at home. Born in Naalehu, she worked for the state Department of Education and the former C. Brewer &Co. Services held. Survived by husband, Edward E. Rose K. Giltner, 76, of Honokaa, formerly of Kohala, died June 28 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a pantry worker, landscaper, painter, stock clerk, ranch hand and nursery worker. Nathaniel Alan Glander, 99, of Keaau died July 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ohio, he was a retired letter carrier and member of Puna Seventh-day Adventist Church. Joseph Mattos, 85, of Hawi died July 13 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, he was a project coordinator for Kohala Historical Sites State Monument, Hawaii National Guard retiree, supervisor for the Kohala Sugar Co., Kohala High School basketball coach and member of Kohala Senior Citizens Club. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Aloha attire.
