The University of Hawaii is acquiring another 3.7 acres for the Hilo campus.

The University of Hawaii is acquiring another 3.7 acres for the Hilo campus.

The state Board of Land and Natural Resources voted Friday to lease the land along Lanikaula Street to the university.

The site was used by the Army National Guard until 2011.
