HGEA golf event Saturday at Muni

The Hawaii Government Employees Association will be conducting a fellowship golf tournament on Saturday at Hilo Municipal Golf Course, with tee times starting at 8 a.m.

Participation is open to all members in good standing.

Top shoot

Garrett Zane grabbed top honors at a Big Island Trap Club shoot June 7 at the County Trap & Skeet Range.

Zane scored 137 as participants shot 50 targets in singles, handicap and doubles events. Following Zane were Neil Arakaki (133) and Dana Okazaki (129).

The club’s next shoot is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 12.

Hilo Triathlon registration

Registration is open until July 3 for the Hilo Triathlon, July 12 at James Kealoha Beach Park on July 12.

The entry fee is $200 for individuals and $100 relay team members, respectively. Registration closes midnight on July 2.

Setting the record straight

Patrick Guillen’s name was incorrect in a story in Saturday’s edition regarding the finalists to become University of Hawaii at Hilo athletic director.

Guillen will give a presentation at UH-Hilo on Tuesday.
