The youngster from Punahou was no match for Dalen Yamauchi at the 107th Manoa Cup on Thursday at Oahu Country Club.

Buffanblu upcoming junior Andrew Chin played up-and-up with Yamauchi through the first four holes in the Round of 16 during calm and beautiful conditions.

The former UHH and Waiakea golfer won the sixth hole, both squared up on the seventh, and then a landslide fell on Chin.

Yamauchi blitzed to a 7 and 5 rout, winning holes 8 to 13, and not even needing the last five holes in match play.

On that six-hole winning stretch, Yamauchi made two birdies and the rest pars. Chin struggled with four bogeys.

Yamauchi gets a bright and early quarterfinal matchup with Sian Rogers at 7:08 a.m. today with a chance to bolster Vulcan pride.

Rogers defeated former Vul Isaac Jaffurs 3 and 1.

It was all squared up through the 12th hole. Then Rodgers won 13, 16 and 17 to put away Jaffurs, last year’s runner-up.

Chris Shimomura, another UHH golfer, suffered a much tougher loss. Justin Williamson beat him 2 and 1.

Williamson was 2 up after the 14th, then Shimomura won the 15th hole, and both parred the 16th.

There were two holes left, and Williamson was 1 up. Shimomura needed a win or tie. Instead he took a lopsided loss on the 17th.

Shimomura bogeyed the par 4 second-to-last hole, while Williamson birdied for a 2 and 1 win.
