tourney in Ka‘u

Little League teams from Hilo, North Hawaii, Ka’u and Hamakua will compete in a District 4 tournament for ages 9-10 that runs Friday through Monday in Naalehu.

On the opening day, Hilo meets North Hawaii at noon, followed by a game between Hamakua and Ka’u at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the winners and losers face off at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, in the double-elimination tournament.

District 4 extends an invitation to umpires to contact Little League in their area for information about volunteering.

Hapuna Rough

Water Swim

The Hapuna Rough Water Swim will be June 13 at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area.

The race will have a keiki 400-meter swim at 8:15 a.m. and a 1-mile swim to follow. Registration is now open at FLPregister.com/148. There will only be online registration.

Konawaena golf

benefit June 13

The 10th annual Konawaena Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 13 at Makalei Country Club.

Proceeds benefit the Konawaena Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization in support of higher education programs at Konawaena High School.

Okazaki top shot

Dana Okazaki was the top shooter at a B.A.D. Company compact sporting clay shoot held May 17 at the County Trap and Skeet range. Okazaki scored 66 in the 100-target sub-gauge event, just ahead of Herbert Kruger (65). Dexter Egdamin shot 59.

The club’s next shoot is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 14.
