HPA golf benefit set for June 5

The 19th annual Hawaii Preparatory Academy Headmaster’s Cup begins at 10 a.m. June 5 with a shotgun start at Kohanaiki Golf Course in Kailua-Kona.

Registration is $350 per person, which includes a Kohanaiki golf shirt. Proceeds benefit financial aid and athletics at HPA.

The tournament is a two-player shamble, low net score format with mulligans available for purchase. A mid-afternoon reception with pupu and prizes will follow.

Aikane tennis

Aikane Tennis will hold play from 7 to 10 p.m. May 26 at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.

Members are $2, and non-members are $5.

Scholarship 5K run is Sunday

The Big Island Road Runners is sponsoring the annual Scholarship 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m. May 24 with four $1,000 scholarships being awarded to area seniors.

The event is at Reeds Bad and registration begins at 6:30 p.m.

Pop Warner seeks sign-ups

Big Island Pop Warner Football is accepting registering for the 2015 season.

Tackle football is for ages 7-15, and cheer and dance for ages 5-15 ( age determined on July 31).

Weight restrictions are in place for different divisions of play. Island association teams will be paper certifying in mid-July and practice will begin Aug. 1.

Participants are required to have the following forms in order register: medical/physical (must be Pop Warner form, dated Jan. 1 to Aug. 1); player/participant contract; end-of-year report card copy (all four quarters); original birth certificate and one copy; copy of medical card; 2 by 2 color photo of participant

Special Olympics golf

season set to start

The Special Olympics East Hawaii golf season will begin June 5.

Practice will be held every Friday through Aug. 21st, with a golf tournament to be held at the end of the season.

All interested Special Olympic athletes are encouraged to sign up at www.info@golftreasures.net. Click on Special Olympics 2015 sign-up for golf and fill out information or in person at Golf Treasures, located at 37c Lono Street.
