HONOLULU (AP) — A 9-year-old girl authorities were searching for in Hawaii is returning home to Colorado in time for Mother’s Day after she was found in Texas with her non-custodial father.

Her father, Brian Kirk, is awaiting extradition to Colorado to face criminal charges. He couldn’t be reached for comment in custody.

Brianne Kirk went camping with her father on the Big Island for spring break. She was supposed to return to Colorado Springs at the end of March and it was thought they may still be on the Big Island.

Acting on an anonymous tip, the FBI found father and daughter in Poolville, Texas on Thursday.

The FBI says it appears Brian Kirk flew with his daughter to Texas from Hawaii in April. There was no record of their travels and the FBI doesn’t know what names or identifications they used.
