Hundreds of hungry, thirsty residents and visitors made their way to sunny Moku Ola (Coconut Island) Sunday for the 11th Annual Hilo Huli.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of South Hilo, the all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink event featured more than a dozen vendors dishing out hundreds of small plates, from crab cakes and Hawaiian nachos to strawberry shortcake shots.

Providing the entertainment were Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning musicians Kainani Kahaunaele and Amanda Frazier.

Over the past decade, Hilo Huli has raised more than $182,000 for community programs. Proceeds from this year event will benefit Hospice of Hilo’s Keiki Bereavement Program, Hilo Medical Center Foundation Physicians Residency Program, the Big Island Substance Abuse Council and other projects.

Each year the event draws nearly 1,000 people.
