Police arrested a 17-year-old male student Tuesday after a lockdown was instituted at Keaau High School.
Officers responded to the school after a 10:19 a.m. call. They learned that a 17-year-old boy physically harassed and threatened school employees who were attempting to detain him after receiving information that he was planning to fight with another student. The student then fled the campus, triggering the lockdown, police said.
The student was arrested at 11:18 a.m. at Herbert Shipman Park, commonly known as “Shipman ballpark,” on suspicion of harassment, truancy and two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
The youth was later released from custody pending further investigation.
