An Air Force airman with ties to the Big Island graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

Airman Zachary A. Wilson, whose brother, Bryce Wilson, lives in Hawi, completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Wilson earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Brett and Kellie Wilson of Meridian, Idaho; grandson of Linda Burtch of Kent, Wash.; and nephew of Cameron Burtch of Parker, Colo. He is a 2014 Meridian (Idaho) High School graduate.
