The Rainbow Warriors lost two of three in the series and were overpowered on the mound in both losses. UH (15-26, 6-9) scored only one run against the Gauchos (31-10, 8-4), but it was good enough for a 1-0 victory Saturday.

Bieber (6-3) didn’t issue a walk, lowing his ERA to 1.88.

Clay Fisher hit a two-run double as UC Santa Barbara scored four times in a the fourth against Arakaki (2-3), who allowed nine hits and five runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Matt LoCoco had two hits with a double for UH and Hilo graduate Chayce Ka’aau was 1 for 4. Hawaii hits the road to face Long Beach State next weekend.

WATER POLO: Caity Lopes Da Silva scored in double overtime, and UH downed top-seeded UC Irvine 9-8 to win the Big West tournament in Honolulu.

Da Silva and Gabi Mantellato Dias each had hat tricks for the Wahine.
