The University of Hawaii at Hilo moved into fifth place at the Pacific West Conference men’s golf championship on the Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo moved into fifth place at the Pacific West Conference men’s golf championship on the Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.

James Coon was tied for third at 1-under after a round of 74 helped the Vulcans post a 303. UH-Hilo (608) is 32 shots behind first-place Dominican.

Coon was two strokes off the pace set by Dominican’s Mark Milton (70) of Dominican.

Also for UH-Hilo, Dalen Yamauchi (76) was tied for 18th place at 8-over 152 (76-76); Connor Graves (80-74–154) was tied for 22nd; Kyeton Littel (79) was another five strokes back and tied for 33rd; and David Tottori was tied for 38th after another 81 left him 18-over.

• Waiakea graduate Andi Igawa was in 11th place at the PacWest women’s championships at Sunbrook, turning in a 7-over 79 to sit at 12-over after two rounds.

Tied for 14th place was Shannon Abarra (74) at 15-over. Erin Costes (86) tied for 31st at 33-over and Mariah Paiste (92) was tied for 37th at 41-over.

The Vulcans (331) were seventh at 677, 81 shots behind first-place California Baptist.

There was a two-way tie for first at 2-over.
