More than 1,300 visitors studied and voted for their favorite turning during Wailoa Center’s Big Island Woodturners 17th annual exhibit that concluded March 31.

Thirty-three artists participated, displaying 107 turned objects. The Artists Choice award was voted on by members of the club to pick their favorite, most outstanding piece.

The Woodturners voted for Doug Keown’s “Blues,” a vessel created with mahogany, inks and lacquer.

Visitors almost unanimously chose “Untitled,” a Norfolk pine bowl by Dennis Hakes, to receive the People’s Choice award.

This year’s awards were sponsored by HPM and Woodcraft. Mahalo to all who participated and attended this year’s exhibit.
