Waiakea’s baseball team will have to wait another day to try and clinch an HHSAA tournament berth.

Waiakea’s baseball team will have to wait another day to try and clinch an HHSAA tournament berth.

The Warriors regular-season finale Thursday at Pahoa was postponed by rain for the second consecutive day, and the third try will come at 3 p.m. Friday at the Warriors’ field.

While Waiakea already has clinched the top seed in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division I playoffs, a win would give it the outright regular-season title and an automatic berth to states.

The contest also had meaning to the Daggers (1-6), who are game behind Hawaii Prep for the final playoff spot in Division II.

Ka Makani (2-6) and Pahoa are scheduled to end the regular season Saturday in Puna, but that game could be moved to Waiakea if the weather dictates.
