Bem-vindo a Portugal!

Bem-vindo a Portugal!

This fall the Big Island Portuguese Culture Club is sponsoring an independent, non-commercial three-week tour of “the Gentle Land” with a stop in the Azores.

Organized by a local club member who has frequented the country, the trip will include air travel on United and TAP Portugal airlines; ground transportation by two Renault nine-seat vans; and accommodations in two- and three-star guesthouses, “pensaos,” pilgrimage inns and hotels.

This is an opportunity to see the diverse terrain of Portugal, its famous monuments, cultural patrimony, wonderful cuisine and wine, do some shopping, and experience the land of many Big Island residents’ ancestors.

Highlights include: Sao Miguel in the Azores, Lisboa, Fatima, Coimbra, Porto and port wine grape-stomping during harvest time in Pinao on the Douro River.

The trip is scheduled for the third week of September to the second week of October.

For the full itinerary and approximate costs, request a flier at the next club meeting at 1 p.m.April 12 at the Kamana Senior Center, 127 Kamana St., Room RR or, call club president John Sousa at 964-1216 or email bipcc.org@gmail.com.
