The Rotary Club of South Hilo has launched a new website, www.hilohuli.org, for its largest annual fundraising event — the Hilo Huli.

“The new site gives people the opportunity to visually experience all the fun, food and activities at the event, as well as making it really easy to purchase tickets online,” said Kim Arakawa, Rotary Club of South Hilo president-elect.

For the past 11 years, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of South Hilo put on an all you can eat and drink event on Coconut Island (Moku Ola) to raise money for various projects in the community. Since its inception the Hilo Huli has raised more than $182,000 for charities.

This year’s event is May 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The funds raised will support Hospice of Hilo’s Keiki Bereavement Program, Hilo Medical Center Foundation Physicians’ Residency Program, the Big Island Substance Abuse Council and other projects throughout the community.

Tickets for the event are available through the website, from Rotary Club of South Hilo members, and at Uncle Billy’s, Aiona Car Sales, Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and the Most Irresistible Shop in Hilo.

“The Hilo Huli is really a great way to have a spectacular day on Moku Ola and to raise money for our community,” said event chairwoman Lisa Kwee.
