Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset recently announced its Students of the Month for the Puna district.

Rotary Club of Pahoa Sunset recently announced its Students of the Month for the Puna district.

March honorees are seventh-grader Antonio Fracklam and sixth-grader Jaimeson Crusat, both from Kua O Ka La School. They were selected by the school’s administrators because “they have gone the extra mile to ensure success.” Both students are in the top 10 percent of the nation in achieving growth in their reading and math skills.

Rotary club president Craig Watkins said the service club is honoring students each month who demonstrate progress in their schoolwork. Teachers and administrators select the students to be honored. Each Student of the Month receives a gift card and a certificate of recognition.

Awards are presented each month at a Rotary meeting, hosted at 6 p.m. Tuesdays at Akebono Theater in Pahoa. The public is invited to attend.
