The building that has been home to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald for more than six decades is up for sale.

The building that has been home to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald for more than six decades is up for sale.

The 24,000-square-foot facility, located at 355 Kinoole St. in downtown Hilo, has an asking price of $4.25 million.

The newspaper no longer needs such a large production facility, Publisher David Bock said.

“The newspaper is printed in Kona at West Hawaii Today, so we just have too much space for our current needs,” Bock said. “It’s a huge building.”

Despite the potential sale, Bock said it’s likely the newspaper will stay in its current location.

“We are selling the property but would like to remain a tenant,” Bock said. “We are seeking a buyer who will lease a portion of the space back to the Tribune-Herald.”

Colliers International is handling the sale out of its Kona office. Call 808-524-2666 for more information.

The Tribune-Herald is owned by Oahu Publications Inc., which also operates The Honolulu Star-Advertiser, West Hawaii Today and The Garden Island on Kauai.
