Youth rugby on Saturday

The Hilo Reign, of Hawaii Youth Rugby, will host a round of games at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Malama Park, featuring nationally ranked Kahuku from Oahu.

Other competing clubs are the Waimea Boars, Kona Bulls and Puna Chiefs.

The boys and girls divisions include Under-13, U-16 and U-19.

Last June at Malama Park, the Kahuku Red Raiders defeated the Hilo Reign 14-0 for the U-19 state championship.

Admission is free and there will be a concession stand.

Hilo Business Canoe race

The 32nd annual Hilo Business Canoe Races will be held Sunday, April 12 at Hilo Bayfront.

Sponsored by Kamehameha Canoe Club and KWXX / KBIG radio stations, the event is a favorite of many Big Island businesses and organizations.

There are several divisions, going from novice to experienced paddler.
