Campbell defeated Kamehameha 42-34 in the first round of the HHSAA Division I state basketball tournament on Wednesday at McKinley High Gym.

Solomon Escalante scored 10 points and Pukana Vincent added nine points for the Warriors (9-6), who play the Iolani-Leilehua loser at 3 p.m. Thursday at McKinley.

The Sabers (12-2) play No. 2 seed and OIA champion Farrington (11-4) at 5 p.m. Thursday at McKinley.

No. 4 seed and three-time BIIF champion Konawaena (8-6) plays the Kahuku-Moanalua winner at 5 p.m. Thursday at Moanalua High Gym.

The Sabers, the OIA No. 5 team, led 20-18 at halftime.

The BIIF runner-up Warriors tied it 30-30 at the end of the third quarter, but were outscored 12-4 in the final eight minutes.

In the Division II quarterfinals on Thursday, No. 1 seed and BIIF champion Pahoa (13-1) plays OIA runner-up Kalani (3-8) at 5 p.m. at Farrington High Gym.

In another first-round game, BIIF runner-up Kohala (13-1) plays No. 3 seed and MIL champion Seabury Hall (8-0) at 5 p.m. Thursday at Kalani High Gym.
