James Wai Tong Chong Jr., 82, of Honolulu and formerly of Waimea died Dec. 11 in Honolulu. He was born in Honolulu. Private services held. Survived by wife, Pearl Chong of Honolulu; son, John (Karen) Chong of Oregon; daughter, Jean Chong (Cleve) Okamura of Honolulu; brothers, Joseph Chong of Washington state and John (Carol) Chong of Kaneohe, Oahu; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Robert E. Heidenfeldt, 88, of Hilo died Dec. 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Tonawanda, N.Y., he was a retired state Child Support Enforcement Agency investigator, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and Korean War U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the National Rifle Association. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Prayer service at 6 p.m. Graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire. No flowers. Survived by wife, Miguela “Meg” Heidenfeldt of Hilo; sons, Bruce Heidenfeldt of Hilo, Gary (Moani) Heidenfeldt of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Brian (Deborah) Heidenfeldt of Hilo; daughters, Karen (Danielle Scudder) Heidenfeldt of Laupahoehoe, Debra (Kawehi) Ryder of Pahala and Gail Gali of Pahala; sisters, Dora Buchner of Denver and Lois Lovis of Emmaus, Pa.; half sisters, Marie (Gay) Garner of Mobile, Ala., Elaine (Nicolas) Woloszyn of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Gale (Gerry) Synkowski of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; half sister-in-law, Rosie Heidenfeldt of Buffalo, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
