Hospice of Hilo recently hosted a “Frozen”-themed holiday party for the children of the youth bereavement program. The celebration gave the participants an opportunity to find some joy during a period of time that can be very difficult for those who recently lost a loved one.

Hospice of Hilo recently hosted a “Frozen”-themed holiday party for the children of the youth bereavement program. The celebration gave the participants an opportunity to find some joy during a period of time that can be very difficult for those who recently lost a loved one.

“Activities included creating gingerbread people and ornament craft time, enjoying a ‘Frozen’-themed cake and ice cream, and, of course, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made an appearance. Mr. and Mrs. Claus also called in Olaf from ‘Frozen’ to join them in the festivities,” said Hospice of Hilo Children’s Bereavement Counselor Fujio Sato.

Each child received a gift made possible by a Hospice of Hilo team member.

“It really is the staff members and volunteers of Hospice of Hilo that come together to make this event possible. They purchase the gifts, decorate our facility and make the sweet treats. Everyone really loves working together to see the children’s faces light up when they enter the celebration,” Sato said.

“I’m really so grateful to Hospice of Hilo’s staff and volunteers for all they do to bring so much joy to these children during the holiday season,” said Hospice of Hilo CEO Brenda S. Ho.
