Arrest made in Minit Stop robbery

Police arrested one suspect in the Tuesday robbery of a convenience store near the Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo and are seeking another.

Thursday at 3:10 a.m., Kona patrol officers arrested Kelly Marie Brightbill in Kalaoa, while investigating a suspicious vehicle call. Brightbill was wanted for questioning in connection with the robbery of a convenience store off Kekela Street. She was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, and unrelated third-degree theft and contempt of court charges.

She’s being detained in the Kona cellblock while Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives continue to investigate the robbery.

Police also arrested the driver of a black Mercedes allegedly used as the getaway car in the robbery of the Minit Stop convenience store, a 26-year-old Hilo man, for unrelated traffic offenses. Police recovered the vehicle.

Detectives continue to ask for the public’s assistance in locating the other robbery suspect, described as a Caucasian male, possibly in his early to mid-20s, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, 125 to 130 pounds, slim build, with shoulder length blond hair.
