Shizuko Asano, 89, of Papaikou died Nov. 14 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a homemaker and member of Taishoji Soto Mission Kyodan and Fujinkai. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Thomas T. (Sue) Asano and Harlan T. (Janice “Jan”) Asano of Hilo; daughter, Gail M. (Mark) Tobara of Honolulu; brother, Haruo (Joyce) Meguro of Honolulu; sister, Hanako (Toichi) Arai of Hilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Masako Kuwaye, 94, of Hilo died Nov. 4 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif.
