Keaau Public and School Library will celebrate its 40th anniversary at 5 p.m. today with a special performance featuring the Puna Taiko Group in the library’s humanities room at 16-571 Keaau-Pahoa Road on the Keaau Middle School campus,

Keaau Public and School Library will celebrate its 40th anniversary at 5 p.m. today with a special performance featuring the Puna Taiko Group in the library’s humanities room at 16-571 Keaau-Pahoa Road on the Keaau Middle School campus,

The public is invited to attend this free event, which also will include line dancing. The library will be open during its normal Tuesday hours from 1-8 p.m.

The Friends of the Library of Hawaii is sponsoring this special two-hour anniversary event, which is suitable for all ages. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Light refreshments will be served.

Designed by Matsunaga, Sako and Associates/Architects Inc., Keaau Public and School Library was opened Sept. 30, 1974. The library serves the Keaau and upper Puna communities, as well as an increasing population of people displaced by the effects of the June 27 lava flow.
