Each year, to the delight of Hilo-area folks, a poinsettia sale featuring plants in a variety of brilliant colors ranging in size from a 4-inch pot up to a 2-gallon container, is hosted by members of the Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association.

Each year, to the delight of Hilo-area folks, a poinsettia sale featuring plants in a variety of brilliant colors ranging in size from a 4-inch pot up to a 2-gallon container, is hosted by members of the Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association.

The event is hosted as a benefit to assist students in the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s College of Education.

This year’s sale is scheduled for 7 a.m.-4 p.m. — both days — Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-7, while supply lasts, at 264 Nohea St.

Colors of plants available will include red, pink, yellow, Jingle Bells and Monet and can be purchased at the following prices for different-sized pots:

• 4-inch pots cost $5.

• 6-inch pots are $7.

• 8-inch containers are $12.

• 2-gallon pots are $22 each.

Come early to enjoy the beauty of all the colors available and get your pick.
