Great Dane gives birth to 19 puppies

YORK HAVEN, Pa. (AP) — Call it “19 Pups and Counting.” York County, Pennsylvania, residents Brandon and Aimie Terry’s Great Dane recently gave birth to 19 puppies.

Great Danes normally have seven to 10 puppies in a litter. But Brandon Terry said an X-ray of Snowy found at least 15 “little spines” during a visit to the veterinarian’s office before she gave birth.

The puppies are about 3 weeks old.

Restaurateur pleads guilty to serving whale meat

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The parent company and owner of a now-closed Southern California restaurant pleaded guilty to serving meat from an endangered whale.

Typhoon Restaurant Inc. and owner Brian Vidor each entered guilty pleas Monday to one count of unlawful sale of a marine mammal. They were charged with serving meat from the endangered Sei whale to undercover investigators at The Hump at Santa Monica Municipal Airport.

As part of the plea, Vidor admitted he was aware his sushi chefs, who previously pleaded guilty, were serving whale. The restaurant closed in 2010.

Typhoon and Vidor will jointly pay a $27,500 fine and will be placed on probation if the terms of the plea agreements are accepted.

Man accused of stealing bulldozer for ride home

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Police say a New Jersey man who was drunk stole a bulldozer in order to get a ride home.

Police say 30-year-old Christopher Russell left behind a path of destruction as he tried to maneuver the bulldozer through West Hudson Park. The bulldozer leveled signs, three benches, a tree, a drinking fountain, and left a maze of tracks in the grass.

Harrison Police Capt. Mike Green tells the Jersey Journal (http://bit.ly/1yOTkUS ) that Russell told officers he was cold and was trying to ride home to Newark.

Russell was charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and theft of the bulldozer.
