Tickets, which only are available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is an international sensation that has played to more than 35 million people worldwide in 13 countries. Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice.
The original Broadway production ran for more than 13 years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). HPA theater instructor Marina Tichotsky is the director, music director and costume designer. Phillip Cheng is musical and production assistant, Elizabeth MacDonald is choreographer, and Jared Terpak is technical director and set/lighting designer.
The cast features Eliana Kaplan as Belle, Calvin Chang as The Prince/The Beast, Miller White as Gaston, Kaipolani Hubbard as Mrs. Potts, Tanner Riley as Lumiere, Colby Camero as Cogsworth, Wolfgang Brennan as Lefou, and John Paulo Ortega as Maurice. Thirty other HPA students play supporting roles, with 50 more students in the orchestra and assisting with production. For more information, call 881-4002.
