The flow was advancing at about 5 yards per hour and moved about 90 yards farther downslope since Monday morning.
“Smoke conditions were light to moderate with moderate trade winds from the northeast pushing the smoke in a south, southwest direction,” Civil Defense said. “Smoke conditions may increase in some areas and residents down wind that may be sensitive or have respiratory problems are advised to take necessary precautions and to remain indoors.”
Pahoa Village Road between Apa‘a Street and the Post Office Road will remain closed to non-residents.
The state Office of Elections also announced today that voters assigned to the Pahoa Community Center precinct who live north of the lava flow will be voting at the Hawaiian Paradise Community Center on election day Tuesday.
Voters who still have access to the Pahoa Community Center may still vote there, the office said.
Elections estimates about 2,000 voters will be impacted by the change.
