The University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM) will host a slideshow presentation by Agroforestry consultant Dave Sansone titled “Climate Smart Agriculture X Agroforestry.”

Sansone’s presentation is slated for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in UCB Room 100. The event is free and open to the public.

Sansone is the owner of Agroforestry Design LLC., which offers agroforestry and permaculture consultation services on Hawaii Island. Since 2002, he has developed low-input/effort agroforestry models and worked with more than 1,000 species of plants in a diversity of climates, conditions and cultivation systems.

Participants will learn how to address and adapt to climate change while meeting their current needs by developing productive agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gasses and sequester increasing amounts of carbon while improving the soil. Sansone will cover a wide range of topics including no-till and bio-till farming, biological weed control, mulch crops and more.
