The Aztecs (4-3, 3-1 Mountain West) ran for 283 yards while holding Hawaii to just 90 and held a 457-264 advantage in total yards.

Pumphrey got San Diego State on the board early, punching in from the 10 with 9:44 left in the first quarter and Donny Hageman kicked a 36-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead after a quarter.

Ikaika Woolsey found Marcus Kemp for a 39-yard second-quarter touchdown pass with five seconds left in the first half to cut the lead to 10-7, but that was the closest Hawaii (2-5, 1-1) could get.

Quinn Kaehler threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Lloyd Mills in the third quarter and finished 174 yards on 13-of-24 passing.

The Aztecs dominated time of possession: 36:07 to 23:53.
