Birthdays come but once a year, but for the Hilo Habitat ReStore, turning five means the celebration will last two full days.

Birthdays come but once a year, but for the Hilo Habitat ReStore, turning five means the celebration will last two full days.

The Manono Street ReStore can only hold a small amount of the current inventory, so the celebration will take place at an off-site warehouse space at 221 Makaala St., across from Big Island Granite and KPC Grooming Salon. The celebration sale is slated from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today and Sunday.

Because of the short time frame, the event will be cash only, with advance photos and prices available on the ReStore’s website, www.hilohabitat.org.

“We partner with lots of businesses and organizations communitywide and get a constant flow of inventory. Right now, our off-site warehouse is stocked full of all sizes of interior and exterior doors, several sizes of kitchen cabinet doors, storage and display shelves and drawers, medicine cabinets, fluorescent lighting and track lighting. We’ll be selling all of this at special pricing during the anniversary celebration sale,” said ReStore Manager Rex Lauer.

“Customers love getting recycled and new, discounted items because it makes it easier to build or maintain their homes, which is part of preventing homelessness and keeping housing affordable here in East Hawaii. This two-day off-site sale is especially handy for those who are building or remodeling and need large quantities of materials. We look forward to celebrating with the community at the event,” said Board President Julie Hugo.
