As part of its ongoing efforts to control little fire ants at public recreational sites, the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation scheduled treatments at the following parks:

As part of its ongoing efforts to control little fire ants at public recreational sites, the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation scheduled treatments at the following parks:

• Waiakeawaena Park on Wednesday in Hilo.

• Naalehu Park on Thursday

• Waiakea-Uka Park and Stanley Costales Waiakea-Uka Gym on Monday in Hilo.

• Machado Acres Park on Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Hilo.

• Ainaola Park on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Hilo.

• Ainako Park on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Hilo.

• Hakalau Veterans Park on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Weather permitting, the parks scheduled for treatment will be closed in the early morning hours. Signs will be posted informing park patrons of the closure times.
