Very little vegetation was burning and there was no wildfire threat.
The surface flow posed no immediate threat to Kaohe Homestead residents near Pahoa, the closest inhabited area.
Subsurface flow activity also continued.
Hawaii Volcanoes Observatory declared an eruption warning Thursday due to the flow’s proximity to residents, but no evacuation was required. Although the flow did not pose an immediate threat to area communities, residents are encouraged to continue to review their emergency plans in the event conditions change and should an evacuation become necessary.
The public is reminded that the flow cannot be accessed and is not visible from any public areas. Access to Kaohe Homesteads subdivision continues to be restricted to residents only.
