Hilo Higashi Hongwanji rescheduled its O-Bon festival — postponed because of Tropical Storm Iselle — for this weekend at 216 Mohouli St. The Hatsu Bon service starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by the annual Bon dance at 7 p.m.

Food items such as andagi, hot dogs, saimin and other refreshments will be available for purchase.

“Come and dance your stress away,” said spokesman Roy Hamakawa.

The Ura-Bon (day-after-O-Bon) service is slated for 10 a.m. Sunday.

“We welcome the public at no charge to attend both services and the Bon dance,” Hamakawa said. “Due to unforeseen circumstances Hurricane Iselle has presented, last-minute cancellation and rescheduling was made for safety reasons.

“We are truly sorry that this storm may have caused any inconvenience, over which we had no control. We are truly grateful that no one was seriously hurt. Homes can be replaced, but your life is irreplaceable,” he said. “Thank you for your understanding during this stressful time.”
