The Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently presented its Hawaii’s Distinguished Citizen Award to Central Pacific Bank CEO and Chairman John C. Dean at its annual awards dinner on Oahu.
The Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently presented its Hawaii’s Distinguished Citizen Award to Central Pacific Bank CEO and Chairman John C. Dean at its annual awards dinner on Oahu.
This honor is awarded each year to a resident of Hawaii whose leadership in business, industry, government, education and other community endeavors has contributed to the growth and vitality of our state.
“It is an honor to be recognized by such an incredible organization that teaches our youth the importance of character, leadership, and service to others,” said Dean.
Dean has spent more than 30 years as an executive in the financial services industry, serving as CEO of five financial institutions throughout the country. He joined Central Pacific Bank in 2010, leading the recapitalization effort that paved the way for the bank’s recent successes.
A former Peace Corps volunteer in Western Samoa, he has served as co-founder and chairman emeritus of the Entrepreneur’s Foundation of Hawaii, supporting small business ventures at the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business.
“John’s proven leadership and commitment to the community is what makes him one of Hawaii’s most distinguished citizens,” said Jeff Sulzbach, scout executive and CEO of the Aloha Council. “Today he joins the ranks of other prominent local community figures who have earned this distinction. We are proud to bestow this honor upon John, and are glad that he has chosen to make Hawaii his home.”
