Steven “Steve” P. Bowles, 76, of Waimea died Aug. 17 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, he was a water and land resource management consultant, owned Waimea Water Services, and served on the Hawaii Island Fire, Agriculture, and Energy Advisory commissions, and the board of Kahua Ranch. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at Thurston Memorial Chapel at Punahou School in Honolulu. Service at 10:30 a.m. service. Big Island service 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Kahua Ranch. Aloha attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Helen Bowles of Waimea; son, Dan (Donna Reisling) Bowles of Kawaihae; daughter, Lani (Kirk) Eubank of Hawi; brother, John (Gay) Bowles of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Helen (Christopher) Nicholson of Philadelphia and Virginia “Ginny” (Jay) Schnell of Klondyke, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; nieces, nephews and cousins. John Chiquita Jr., 71, of Hilo died Aug. 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired owner of Johnny’s Auto Body &Upholstery and a member of Koa Puna Motorcycle Club.
