Bette Lou Buckingham, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 16 at home. Born in Huntington Park, Calif., she was a homemaker and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. Celebration of life 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Grounds Coffee Farm visitor center, 82-6011 Mamalahoa Highway, Captain Cook. Survived by sons, James (Linda) Buckingham Jr. of Austin, Texas, William (Gail) Buckingham of Captain Cook; sister, Dixie Sundberg of San Clemente, Calif.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Steven Jun Wah Kau, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 12 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a telecommunications engineer for Wakelight Technologies, Inc., U.S. Army veteran and Air Force Reserve retiree and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Oahu services 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 91-641 Pohue St., Halawa Heights. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Wilda Alquist Hodgins, 99, of Kailua-Kona, died July 28 at home. Born in Thompson, Iowa, she was a homemaker, former registered nurse and volunteer with various charities.
