The Honohina Hongwanji Mission invites the community to its annual Cemetery Service, Hatsu Bon Service and Bon Dance on Saturday, Aug. 30.

The Honohina Hongwanji Mission invites the community to its annual Cemetery Service, Hatsu Bon Service and Bon Dance on Saturday, Aug. 30.

The O-Bon event starts at 5 p.m. with a service at the Honohina-Piha Cemetery. At 6 p.m., the Hatsu Bon Service starts at the temple. This Buddhist ceremony commemorates the first anniversary of a loved one’s passing.

The Bon Dance starts at 7 p.m.

The Honohina Hongwanji Mission is located at 32-896 Mamalahoa Highway in Ninole, just makai of Mamalahoa Highway (Highway 19) at milepost 19.1. Faced with limited parking, mission officials ask participants plan to carpool with family and friends.
