Sign up to save lives today. The requirements to be a blood donor are simple: Be in good health, 18 years of age or older (17 with signed consent form), weigh 110 pounds or more, bring a valid photo ID with date of birth.

“Summer vacation is over and school is back in session. Make the daily grind rewarding by making an appointment to save lives,” said spokeswoman Vanessa Sim. “Routine blood donation ensures that we have an adequate blood supply for Hawaii’s patients. Depending on the situation, needs change daily.

Hospitals often call for a specific blood type or product. Ask how to maximize your donation and we’ll show you how you can help fill a specific need.

Although details are subject to change, here’s the planned schedule:

— Monday, Sept. 1: 7:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m. at the LDS Kona Stake Center Cultural Hall, 75-230 Kalani St., Kailua-Kona;

— Tuesday, Sept. 2: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., LDS Waimea Hawaii Ward, 65-1168 Kapiolani Road, Waimea;

— Wednesday, Sept. 3: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., LDS Kona Stake Center Cultural Hall, 75-230 Kalani St., Kailua-Kona;

— Tuesday, Sept. 16: 10:15 a.m.-5:15 p.m., Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale main room, 799 Piilani St., Hilo;

— Wednesday, Sept. 17: 7:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus multi-purpose room, 16-716 Volcano Road, Keeau;

— Thursday, Sept. 18: 9 a.m.-3:15 p.m., State Building, Department of Land and Natural Resources, conference rooms A, B &C, 75 Aupuni St., Hilo, and

— Friday, Sept. 19: 7 a.m.-1:15 p.m., Akaka Falls Lions Club at Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale main room, 799 Piilani St., Hilo.
