Police are increasing DUI enforcement as part of a national campaign called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” which started Aug. 15 and remains in effect through Sept. 1.

Police are increasing DUI enforcement as part of a national campaign called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” which started Aug. 15 and remains in effect through Sept. 1.

During the campaign, police will conduct 20-30 sobriety checkpoints islandwide.

Impaired driving while intoxicated by alcohol continues to be a concern in Hawaii County, police said.

In addition, police have noticed an increase in driving while impaired on illegal drugs, prescription medication or both.

Police remind motorists not to operate a motor vehicle if their prescription medication packaging or physician advises against doing so.
