A preliminary hearing has been set for a 24-year-old Hilo man police say possessed a large quantity of illegal steroids.

On Friday, Hilo District Judge Barbara Takase ordered Gregory Douglas Kama to appear at 10 a.m. Monday and granted him supervised release despite the objection of prosecutors, according to court records.

Kama was arrested July 29 by Hilo Vice officers who served search warrants at a Paipai Street home. Police say officers recovered 10 vials of Testosterone Cypionate, two vials of Boldenone Undeecylenate, eight vials of Testosterone, eight vials of Drostanolone, 404 pills of Oxandrolone, 192 pills of Mesterolone, 95 pills of Oxymetholone, four vials of Nandrolone and 1,373 pills of Methandrostenolone.

Kama was charged with 10 counts of promoting a harmful drug and eight counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.
