The volunteers of the Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary will host the next edition of their popular “ShamPooch” dog-washing/nail-trimming event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Keaau Eagles facility across the highway from the Humane Society.

The event had to be postponed in early August due to Tropical Storm Iselle.

Everyone is invited to bring your favorite pooch for a shampoo, nail trim and photo shoot.

For more information, call 747-6442. All proceeds will benefit Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit no-kill sanctuary located in Kurtistown.

Participants may get their canine companion(s) combed and sudsed up for $5 to $10, depending on the animal’s size. Nail trims will be done by Shear Magic for $5, and photo shoots are available for $5. In addition, Wilson’s Trophies is offering custom pet ID tags for $10, with Rainbow Friends receiving $4 for each tag sold.

“So come one and all, to help raise funds for all of the wonderful dogs at Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary,” said sanctuary founder Mary Rose Krijgsman.
