Robert “Captain Bob” Grafton Chapman, 90, of Holualoa died July 2 at home. Born in Bonita, Calif., he was a boat captain, owner and operator of Captain Bob’s Glass Bottom Boat Tours, and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Services held. Survived by wife, Elaine Chapman of Holualoa; sons, Gifford (Sheila) Matsuoka of Kailua-Kona, Peter (Aulike) Matsuoka and Henry Chapman of Holualoa; daughters, Malia (Napua) Springer of Kailua-Kona and Kanani (Roy) Wall of Honalo; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Violet T. Hinomiya Gomes, 70, of Papaikou died May 29 in Mobile, Ala. Born in Papaikou, she was retired from Stationers Corp. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at Hilo Womans Club. Survived by sons, Larry Baker Jr., Bernard Baker and Ty Baker; sisters, Mae Tahara, Adeline Sakamoto and Sharon Moromisato; four grandchildren.

Misae “Gramma” Kinard, 92, of Hilo died June 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired senior dining room manager for the former Naniloa Surf Hotel and member of Kinoole Baptist Church. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by her daughters, Laura Kinard of Orange County, Calif., and Sharon Milar of Hilo; caughter-in-law, Pamela Kinard of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Sachiko Mitsuyoshi, 88, of Hilo died July 6 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a clerk for the former Crown Life Insurance Co. and member of Hauoli Community Association and Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sisters, Amy Ogawa of San Francisco and Helen (Joe Y.) Tanaka of Hilo; brother, Hisao (Misako) Yamamoto of Gardena, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Yoshiko Yamamoto of Honolulu and Jane Yamamoto of Hilo; one aunt; nephews, nieces, and cousins. Hiroshi Saito, 82, of Hilo, formerly of Honolulu, died July 19 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired administrator for the City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation. Services held.
