Shaylann Grace threw a no-hitter to lead Gold Coast to a 17-0 shutout of Utah’s Enterprise in the Little League Softball West Regional Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif., on Tuesday.

The victory evened Gold Coast’s record in pool play at 2-2, but it was not enough to move on to the semifinal round. The team, made up of 9-12-year-olds from the westside of the Big Island, also beat Nevada 15-5 in the tournament, but lost to Southern California (7-5) and Arizona (10-0).

In the win over the Utah team, Grace struck out eight and walked two. She helped her own cause with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kawai Kauahi-Raquel scored three runs and drove in two in addition to her two hits. Mikayla Kekoa had two hits and two runs scored. Andie Uemura and Trinity Spencer each scored three times in the four-inning rout.

Gold Coast was on the wrong end of a no-hitter in the loss to Arizona’s Gilbert. McKenna Prefach struck out five and walked two Hawaii batters.

Grace had three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs in the victory over Nevada’s Centennial. Kekoa, Kauahi-Raquel and Zavanna Sanchez each had two hits. Kekoa drove in three runs.
