Charles “Black Hawk” Kainoa, 82, of Waimea died Sunday at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kaauhuhu, he was a retired Parker Ranch water control specialist. Mitsuo “Benty” Tachibana, 89, of Hilo, died Sunday at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Amauulu, he retired from Hawaii Electrict Light Co. as an engineering department senior coordinator, served in Company K 442nd Regimental Combat Team in World War II, was a member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Fukushima Ken Jin Kai, and was a former member of the HELCO Golf Club, Japanese Golf Club, Fugu Golf Club, and the Big Island Ballroom Dance Club.
