The Rotary Club of Hilo recently presented a $5,000 Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship to Lindsey Yamane, a 2014 graduate of Waiakea High School.

A music enthusiast, Yamane plans to major in music, especially music composition and theory, at Azusa Pacific University in California. She was the president of the Interact Club and participated in other school organizations including the Math League, Hawaiian Ensemble and the National Honor Society.

She also is an active member of Hilo Missionary Church and, as a member of the church youth group, went to China and volunteered at a pharmacy during a weeklong medical clinic operated by the Bridge to the Nations organization.

The Rotary Club of Hilo annually presents one or more scholarships to high school students in East Hawaii as part of its participation in The Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship Program.
