At 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, the Friends of the Hilo Public Library and the Big Island Chess Club will sponsor the first “Chess Beginner’s Class” in the library’s Children’s Room.

Ten topics will be taught by chess director and certified United States Chess Federation member Jon Neet, who has taught kids how to play chess for more than six years and is still loving it.

This program is targeted to all ages, and offered free of charge.

The library furnishes chess sets and clocks, and BICC has quality chess sets available for purchase upon request.

Everyone is invited to join in the fun, educational experience learning how to play with a real chess expert.
