Local business organizations are jointly sponsoring a U.S. Candidate Forum featuring U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz and U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Sangha Hall at 424 Kilauea Ave. in downtown Hilo. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

“The sponsoring organizations have organized this important opportunity to educate their members and the public about the issues relevant to the U.S. Senate, the candidates’ backgrounds, and how well they will meet the needs of the people of Hawaii Island and our state,” said a spokesman for the organizing committee.

The moderator will be Sherry Bracken, public affairs director for Mahalo Broadcasting.

Sponsoring organizations are the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, Japanese Chamber of Commerce &Industry of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Realtors, Hawaii Island Contractors’ Association, Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association and the Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.

The forum will be broadcast live on radio station LAVA 105.3 FM and online at www.hawaii247.com from 6:30-8 p.m.

Food, snacks and drinks will be available for sale at the event.
