Teizo Sumida, 94, of Hilo died at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home on April 29. Born in Hilo, he was a retired maintenance worker with the former Naniloa Surf Hotel and a World War II US Army Veteran who served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He also worked for the former Von Hamm Young, Taka’s Appliance and Teves Refrigeration companies. Private services held. No koden. Survived by sons, Brian (Judith) Sumida of Oakland, Calif. and Dean (Sandra “Sandi”) Sumida of Hilo; daughter, Janne (Cullen) Fujimoto of Mililani, Oahu; brother, Shizuo (Doris) Sumida of Pepeekeo; sisters, Itsuko “Judy” (Harold) Nakagawa of Monterey Park, Calif., and Ritsuko Olson of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Masami Aito, 82, of Hilo died May 28 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Kurtistown, he was the proprietor of the former Pacific Rent-All Company in Hilo. He was a member of Komohana Gardens Association and Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services held. No flowers. No koden. Survived by wife, Mae Aito of Hilo; daughters, Joy Aito of Hilo, Ann (Dave) Cristobal of Hilo, and Lisa (Lance) Ogata of Waipahu; brother, Robert (Doris) Aito of Long Beach, Calif.; sister-in-law, Fumiko Monkawa of Hilo; four grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Adam Ah Chong Kawailani Warren, 76, of Keaau, died May 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a maintenance supervisor for the state Department of Transportation, Hilo Harbors Division and a Kahu for Kamauloa Oka Malamalama Hoomana Naauao O Hawaii. Visitation from 8-11 a.m. Friday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire. Survived by daughter, Angela (Kevin) Enos of Keaau; mother, Mary Warren of Kurtistown; brother, Andrew Warren of Kurtistown; two granddaughters; numerous family members. Daryl Guy Hong, 62, of Kailua-Kona died June 1 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a mechanic for Robert’s Repair &Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam and was a training officer for the Hawaii National Guard. Private services will be held. Survived by sons, Derek (Marie) Hong of Kona Palisades, Allen Hong of Las Vegas and Mike Hong of Kailua-Kona; parents, Daniel and Chizuko Hong of Kona Palisades; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
